Why Train Herblore?

Herblore unlocks some of the most important potions in OSRS. Super Combats, Antivenoms, Brews, and Divine potions are essential for bossing and raids. Many raid groups require 78+ Herblore (for Overload+ in CoX) and 90+ Herblore is a common requirement for efficient raiding teams.

Training Methods

Levels 1-26: Questing

Complete Druidic Ritual (required), then Jungle Potion, Recruitment Drive, and The Dig Site for free Herblore XP. These quests alone can get you to level 26+ without making a single potion.

Levels 26-38: Energy Potions

XP Rate: 50-60K/hr
Cost: ~2 GP/XP

Cheap and accessible. Buy Harralander and Chocolate Dust from the GE.

Levels 38-63: Prayer Potions → Super Attack → Super Energy

XP Rate: 60-80K/hr
Cost: ~5-8 GP/XP

Prayer potions are often profitable or break-even. Check GE prices daily as margins fluctuate.

Levels 63-72: Super Combats (Profitable!)

XP Rate: 70-90K/hr
Cost: Often break-even or profitable

Combine Super Attack, Super Strength, and Super Defence with a Torstol. Check current margins as this can actually make you money.

Levels 72-90: Ranging Potions or Super Restores

Ranging Potions XP Rate: 80-100K/hr, ~8 GP/XP
Super Restores XP Rate: 90-110K/hr, ~10 GP/XP

Super Restores are faster but more expensive. Ranging potions offer a good balance.

Levels 90-99: Anti-Venom+ or Saradomin Brews

Anti-Venom+ XP Rate: 100-120K/hr, ~12 GP/XP
Sara Brews XP Rate: 80-100K/hr, ~6-8 GP/XP

Anti-Venoms are faster. Sara Brews are cheaper. Choose based on your budget.

Fastest route (Super Restores + Anti-Venoms): ~100-120M GP

Budget route (Prayer Pots + Ranging Pots): ~60-80M GP

Cheapest route (mixing profitable potions): ~30-50M GP (much slower)

Money-Saving Tips

Clean your own herbs. Buying grimy and cleaning saves GP and gives bonus XP.
Check GE margins daily. Some potions flip between profitable and expensive.
Use Botanical Garden (Herblore Habitat). Bonus XP from the habitat saves supplies.
Do herb runs while training. Growing your own herbs offsets training costs significantly.
Amulet of Chemistry. 5% chance to create a 4-dose potion from a 3-dose, saving supplies over time.
