Best Melee Training Spots

Where you train melee matters as much as how you train. The right spot can double your XP rate or make training completely AFK. Here are the best spots for every situation.

AFK Training Spots

Sand Crabs (Hosidius)

XP Rate: 25-45K/hr
Requirements: None
3-spot setup south of Hosidius. Crabs have 60 HP, low defence, and do not hit hard. Reset aggro every 10 minutes by running away and back. The classic AFK spot.

Ammonite Crabs (Fossil Island)

XP Rate: 35-55K/hr
Requirements: Bone Voyage quest
Better than Sand Crabs: 100 HP per crab, 3-spot locations. Less crowded. Reset aggro every 10 minutes.

Gargoyles (Slayer Tower)

XP Rate: 35-45K/hr
Requirements: 75 Slayer
Profitable AFK training. Auto-smash drops alchables. Bring Guthans or Blood Fury for sustain. Also trains Slayer.

Fast Training Spots

Nightmare Zone (Dharoks)

XP Rate: 100-130K/hr
Requirements: Multiple quests for good bosses
THE fastest melee XP. Use Dharoks at 1 HP with Absorption potions and Overloads from NMZ. Semi-AFK (check every 20 minutes). Cheapest fast method.

Monkey Madness Tunnels

XP Rate: 60-80K/hr with Burst/Barrage
More commonly used for Ranged/Magic but can melee with cannon support.

Profitable Training

Slayer Tasks

XP Rate: 30-60K/hr
Train melee through Slayer for the best long-term strategy. You earn GP, train Slayer, and unlock boss content. Use Konar for early tasks, Nieve/Steve for efficiency.

Vyrewatch Sentinels (Darkmeyer)

XP Rate: 40-50K/hr
Profit: 600K-1M/hr
AFK melee with Ivandis Flail. Blood Shard drops (1/1500) worth 8M+. Requires Sins of the Father.

Recommended Progression

1-30: Waterfall Quest (instant)
30-60: Sand/Ammonite Crabs
60-70: NMZ with Obsidian or Crabs
70-99: NMZ Dharoks (fastest) or Slayer (profitable)
