Desert Treasure 2: The Four Bosses
Desert Treasure 2 introduced four powerful bosses to OSRS, each guarding a piece of the Frozen Key. These bosses drop some of the most valuable rings in the game: the Ultor, Venator, Magus, and Bellator rings, each worth 30-80M GP.
Each boss has unique mechanics and requires different combat styles and strategies. This guide covers all four bosses with gear setups, strategies, and profit expectations.
1. Vardorvis (Melee Boss)
Recommended Style: Melee
Difficulty: 6/10
GP/Hour: 2-4M
Drop: Ultor ring (best melee ring in the game)
Strategy
Vardorvis is the easiest of the four DT2 bosses. He uses melee and ranged attacks with several special mechanics:
Axes: Dodge the throwing axes by moving 1 tile when they appear
Head attack: Multiple heads spawn from the ground. Move away from them
Virus: A virus spawns that you need to kill quickly before it heals Vardorvis
Pray Melee and use your best melee gear. Scythe is ideal here
Gear
Melee: Torva/Bandos, Scythe of Vitur or Ghrazi Rapier, Avernic Defender
Faceguard or Torva helm, Amulet of Torture, Berserker/Ultor ring
2. Duke Sucellus (Magic/Ranged Boss)
Recommended Style: Magic
Difficulty: 7/10
GP/Hour: 2-3M
Drop: Magus ring (best magic ring)
Strategy
Duke Sucellus is a mushroom-themed boss in a dark underground arena:
Phase 1: Duke is stationary. Attack with magic. Dodge the mushroom gas clouds
Phase 2: Duke walks around. Continue magic DPS while avoiding AoE attacks
Mushroom spores: Stand away from green clouds or take massive damage
Pray Magic throughout the fight. Blood Barrage for sustain
Gear
Magic: Ancestral/Ahrims, Sanguinesti Staff or Tumekens Shadow, Occult, Tormented bracelet
3. The Whisperer (Magic Boss)
Recommended Style: Magic
Difficulty: 8/10
GP/Hour: 2-4M
Drop: Bellator ring (best melee strength ring)
Strategy
The Whisperer is considered the hardest DT2 boss due to complex mechanics:
Shadow realm: You periodically get pulled into a shadow dimension. Kill tentacles to escape
Orbs: Dodge the floating orbs that deal heavy damage
Screams: Move away from The Whisperer when she screams for a massive AoE attack
Prayer: Switch between Protect from Magic and Missiles based on attack style
Gear
Magic: Ancestral, Tumekens Shadow (BIS) or Sang staff, full magic setup
Bring a ranged switch for certain phases
4. The Leviathan (Ranged/Magic Boss)
Recommended Style: Ranged
Difficulty: 7/10
GP/Hour: 2-3M
Drop: Venator ring (best ranged ring)
Strategy
The Leviathan is an underwater serpent-like boss:
Boulder attack: Move to the safe side when boulders fall
Breath attack: Run to the opposite side to avoid the breath
Abyssal pathways: Walk on the correct colored pathway or take damage
Pray Ranged and use Twisted Bow or Bowfa for consistent DPS
Gear
Ranged: Masori/Armadyl, Twisted Bow or Bowfa, Anguish, Venator/Archers ring
Ring Values and Drop Rates
Ultor ring: ~50M GP (1/180 from Vardorvis)
Magus ring: ~40M GP (1/180 from Duke Sucellus)
Bellator ring: ~80M GP (1/180 from The Whisperer)
Venator ring: ~50M GP (1/180 from The Leviathan)
Each ring requires a Chromium Ingot to combine with the vestige drop, adding to the total value.
Which Boss Should You Farm?
Vardorvis: Best for beginners, easiest mechanics, good consistent GP
The Whisperer: Highest value drops but hardest boss. Farm if you are skilled
Duke Sucellus: Good middle ground with decent profit
The Leviathan: Consistent but slightly lower profit than others
