Summer Sweep-Up 2026 Is Huge: Gauntlet Rework, Hunter Buffs, and a Weird CoX Idea
Jagex just dropped the Summer Sweep-Up 2026 blog, and it's a monster. This is the annual "fix all the jank" project that gave us Project Rebalance and last year's ToA tweaks, and the 2026 edition touches Hunter, Agility, the Gauntlet, gear balance, and one genuinely strange Chambers of Xeric proposal. Here's what actually matters.
🦅 Hunter finally gets unjanked
Falconry no longer roots you in place while your bird does the work, and you can send it out with a full inventory. Aerial Fishing gets a bigger quick-catch area, a 50% better Molch Pearl rate, and cheaper rewards (Fishing Sack drops from 1,000 pearls to 500, with refunds for past buyers). Deadfall traps get doubled to two, trigger faster, and Wild Kebbit catch rates go up roughly 2.5x. Butterfly rumours also got their drop rate nearly doubled. Early Hunter might actually be playable now.
🏃 Agility: Sepulchre sooner, shortcuts everywhere
Floor 4 of the Hallowed Sepulchre drops to level 77 (from 82) and Floor 5 to 87 (from 92), and you can now boost for entry. So a Summer pie at 72 gets you into Floor 4. There's also a pile of new shortcuts from level 49 to 83, and several grapple shortcuts become useable barehanded if you overlevel them. The Mos le'Harmless clue step shortcut alone is worth the read.
⚔️ The Gauntlet prep phase gets civilized
This is the headline PvM change. Four demi-bosses now spawn guaranteed at fixed compass points, your first low-tier kills guarantee a weapon frame, shards auto-pickup, resources stack, and crafting costs get rounded to numbers a human can remember. Jagex is clear this isn't meant to speed up the enhanced seed grind, just to cut the variance so prep is less of a coin flip. Tier 3 armour gets slightly pricier to keep it a comfort option rather than the default.
🪙 Gear buffs, and the CoX re-roll proposal
Sang Staff heals more often and hits harder, Soulreaper ramps faster, Rapier and Blade of Saeldor both get a guaranteed extra max hit, and the Inquisitor set bonus is being removed so the mace and pieces work on their own. Burning Claws eat a small spec cost nerf, and the Atlatl and Soulflame Horn get PvP-only adjustments.
The weird one: instead of just cutting prayer scroll weighting at CoX, Jagex is floating a "re-roll" system. Pull an Arcane scroll, gamble it for a 1 in x shot at rolling the unique table again without scrolls on it. Miss and the scroll is deleted.
Why it matters: it props up scroll prices while giving mains, irons, and cloggers a reason to care about duplicate purples. It's also completely unpolled so far, so go yell in the feedback channels.
📦 The rest of the bag
GOTR gets a buyable Abyssal Needle (750 pearls), Tempoross gets buyable Fish Barrel and Tackle Box, run energy fully restores on quest completion, Fight Caves and ToB entry cooldowns are gone, and pets can follow you into the Gauntlet. There's also a Birdhouse rebalance proposal (more nests, less XP) and a long-term plan to slim down Nightmare's loot table so it actually feels like the Inquisitor boss. Both of those are feedback-stage only.
Need a Hand With This?
