AFK Money Making in OSRS

Not every OSRS session needs to be a sweaty raid or intense boss fight. Sometimes you just want to chill, watch a show, and let the GP roll in. These AFK money making methods let you earn solid gold with minimal attention in 2026.

High-Level AFK Methods (1.5M+ GP/Hour)

1. AFK Rune Dragons - 1.5-2.5M GP/hr

Requirements: Dragon Slayer 2, 90+ melee stats, Dragon Hunter Lance
AFK Level: Semi-AFK (check every 2-3 minutes)

Rune Dragons drop Rune bars, Dragon limbs, and the rare Dragon Crossbow pieces. With a Dragon Hunter Lance and good melee gear, you can sustain kills with just Guthan healing or blood fury. Click every few minutes and bank when full.

2. AFK Brutal Black Dragons - 800K-1.5M GP/hr

Requirements: 77 Slayer, Ranged gear
AFK Level: Very AFK (check every 5 minutes)

Sit in the Catacombs with a crossbow and let them come to you. Dragon bones and black dragonhide add up fast. Bring a bonecrusher necklace for extra Prayer XP.

3. Blast Furnace (Runite Bars) - 1.5-2M GP/hr

Requirements: 85 Smithing, Ice Gloves, Coal Bag
AFK Level: Low-attention (click every 30-60 seconds)

Making Runite bars at the Blast Furnace is one of the most consistent money makers in the game. Not fully AFK but very low effort once you get the rhythm.

4. AFK Gargoyles - 800K-1.2M GP/hr

Requirements: 75 Slayer, Guthan set or Blood Fury
AFK Level: Very AFK (check every 5 minutes)

Gargoyles in the Slayer Tower are tanky but drop alchables and Granite Maul. With auto-smash enabled (use Rock Hammer in inventory), kills are completely passive.

Mid-Level AFK Methods (500K-1.5M GP/Hour)

5. Cannonball Smithing - 500-700K GP/hr

Requirements: Dwarf Cannon quest, 35 Smithing
AFK Level: Extremely AFK (check every 2.5 minutes)

Buy steel bars, smith cannonballs. Each inventory takes 2.5 minutes to complete and you can fully walk away between clicks. Perfect for doing homework or watching shows.

6. AFK Fishing (Anglerfish) - 400-600K GP/hr

Requirements: 82 Fishing, 100% Piscarilius favor
AFK Level: Extremely AFK (check every 5 minutes)

Anglerfish are the most AFK fishing method with good profit. Fish at Port Piscarilius and bank when full. Each spot lasts a long time before moving.

7. Amethyst Mining - 400-500K GP/hr

Requirements: 92 Mining
AFK Level: Extremely AFK (check every 3-5 minutes)

Mine Amethyst in the Mining Guild. Incredibly AFK with long mining intervals. Make Amethyst dart tips or broad bolts for best profit.

8. Blood Runecrafting - 400-600K GP/hr

Requirements: 77 Runecrafting, 73 Agility (recommended)
AFK Level: Semi-AFK (click every 30-60 seconds)

Craft Blood Runes at the Arceuus altar. Repetitive but very low attention. Also gives decent Runecrafting XP on the way to 99.

9. Birdhouse and Herb Runs (Passive) - 1-2M GP/run

Requirements: 5+ Hunter, 50+ Farming
AFK Level: 5 minutes every 50-80 minutes

Run birdhouses and herb patches every 50-80 minutes. Takes 5 minutes per run but yields massive passive income. Ranarr and Snapdragon herbs are most profitable.

10. AFK Vyrewatch Sentinels - 600K-1M GP/hr

Requirements: Sins of the Father quest, 60+ melee, Ivandis Flail
AFK Level: Very AFK (check every 3-5 minutes)

Fight Vyrewatch Sentinels in Darkmeyer. Blood shards drop at 1/1500 and are worth 8M+. Also drop good alchables and blood rune stacks.

Beginner AFK Methods (200-500K GP/Hour)

11. Cooking Sharks/Karambwans - 300-500K GP/hr

Requirements: 80+ Cooking, Cooking Gauntlets
AFK Level: Very AFK (click every 60 seconds)

12. Cutting Yew/Magic Logs - 200-400K GP/hr

Requirements: 75/85 Woodcutting
AFK Level: Extremely AFK

13. Spinning Flax - 200-300K GP/hr

Requirements: 10 Crafting
AFK Level: Semi-AFK (click every 45 seconds)

Tips for AFK Efficiency

Use Runelite idle notifications: Get pinged when your character stops moving or when inventory is full
Stack passive methods: Run herbs + birdhouses between your main AFK activity
