Smithing in OSRS

Smithing is useful for making Cannonballs (great passive money), using the Blast Furnace (one of the best money makers), and various quest requirements. Level 85 Smithing at the Blast Furnace with Runite bars is 1.5-2M GP/hr.

Levels 1-29: The Knights Sword Quest

Complete The Knights Sword for 12,725 Smithing XP. Jumps you from 1 to 29 instantly. The best early Smithing XP in the game.

Levels 29-40: Iron Knives/Dart Tips

XP Rate: 60-80K/hr
Smelt iron bars at Blast Furnace, smith into knives or dart tips.

Levels 40-99: Gold Bars at Blast Furnace (Fastest)

XP Rate: 300-380K/hr with Goldsmith Gauntlets
Cost: ~30-40M to 99
The fastest Smithing training. Use Goldsmith Gauntlets (from Family Crest quest) for 56.2 XP per bar at the Blast Furnace. World 352 has Blast Furnace minigame active.

Levels 30-99: Blast Furnace Bars (Profitable)

Steel Bars (30+): 500-700K GP/hr, 30-40K XP/hr
Mithril Bars (50+): 700K-1M GP/hr, 40-50K XP/hr
Adamant Bars (70+): 800K-1.2M GP/hr, 50-60K XP/hr
Runite Bars (85+): 1.5-2M GP/hr, 60-70K XP/hr

Blast Furnace is amazing because you get both XP AND profit. Runite bars at 85+ is one of the best consistent money makers in the game.

Cannonball Smithing (AFK)

XP Rate: 13K/hr
Profit: 500-700K GP/hr
Buy Steel bars, smith into Cannonballs. Each inventory takes 2.5 minutes, making this incredibly AFK. Not for XP but great for passive money.

Blast Furnace Guide

Coal Bag: Holds 27 extra coal. Essential for efficiency. Buy from Motherlode Mine shop
