What is the Fortis Colosseum?
The Fortis Colosseum is a solo wave-based combat challenge released in 2024, located in Varlamore. It features 12 waves of increasingly difficult gladiatorial combat, culminating in a fight against Sol Heredit, one of the hardest solo bosses in OSRS. The ultimate reward is Dizanas Quiver, the best-in-slot ranged ammo slot item that provides a 10% chance to fire an extra projectile.
Requirements
Stats: 90+ in all combat styles (99 highly recommended)
Prayers: Rigour is essential
Quests: Children of the Sun (for Varlamore access)
Gear: High-level melee and ranged gear
How It Works
Before each wave, you choose a modifier from three random options. Modifiers make subsequent waves harder (enemies hit harder, have more HP, etc.) but increase your glory points and improve rewards. Higher total modifier levels increase your chance at Dizanas Quiver.
Modifier Strategy
Take easy modifiers early. Save harder ones for waves where they matter less
Avoid doom modifiers that stack badly with Sol Heredit (e.g., increased enemy accuracy + Sol Heredit already hits hard)
Fremennik and Doom modifiers are generally the hardest. Dynamic and Brawler are more manageable
Wave Breakdown
Waves 1-4: Warm Up
Gladiators with basic combat mechanics. Use melee and conserve supplies. These should be free kills with good gear.
Waves 5-8: Ramping Up
Tougher gladiators with special attacks. Ranged enemies start appearing. Prayer switching becomes important. Use ranged for distant enemies.
Waves 9-11: The Gauntlet
Multiple dangerous enemies with combined mechanics. Manticore and Minotaur variants hit extremely hard. Prioritize ranged enemies, use protection prayers, and manage your HP carefully.
Wave 12: Sol Heredit
The final boss. Sol Heredit is a multi-phase gladiator king with devastating attacks:
Melee phase: Fast melee attacks, dodge his charge attack by moving 2 tiles
Shield phase: He raises a shield. Attack with the correct style or deal reduced damage
Enrage phase: Below 50% HP, attacks speed up and hit harder
Spear throw: Telegraphed ranged attack. Move to avoid it
Grapple: Sol pulls you in for a combo. Use Freedom/click away quickly
Gear Setup
Melee: Torva/Bandos, Scythe or Rapier, Infernal Cape, Torture
Ranged: Masori/Armadyl, Twisted Bow or Bowfa, Anguish
Switch between styles based on enemy weaknesses
Supplies: Brews, Restores, Ranging potion, Super Combat, Stamina
Rewards
Dizanas Quiver (uncharged): 10% chance for extra ranged projectile. Best ranged ammo slot in the game
Sunfire Fanatic armor: Prayer bonus melee armor
Echo Crystals: Used to create Blessed variants of Dizanas Quiver
Tonalztics of Ralos: Special thrown weapon with unique spec
Tips for Success
Learn Sol Heredit on low modifiers first. Clear all 12 waves with easy modifiers before pushing
Melee is your primary style for most waves. Save ranged for specific enemies
The Colosseum is a marathon. Conserve food and prayer through early waves
Modifier choice matters more than gear. Bad modifier stacking is the #1 cause of failure
Watch guides for Sol Heredit specifically. His mechanics are the real challenge
