Thieving Training Overview

Thieving is one of the fastest skills to level in OSRS, with methods reaching over 250K XP/hr at higher levels. It is also surprisingly profitable, especially with Master Farmers and Elves. Whether you want fast levels or GP, this guide covers the optimal path.

Training Methods

Levels 1-5: Men/Women

Pickpocket men in Lumbridge. Quick and easy start.

Levels 5-25: Cake Stalls

Steal cakes from the Ardougne bakery stall. Free food and decent XP to get through early levels.

Levels 25-45: Fruit Stalls (Hosidius)

XP Rate: 40-50K/hr
Requires 15% Hosidius favor. Very AFK — steal fruit, bank when full, repeat. Great for early levels.

Levels 45-55: Blackjacking (Fastest Early XP)

XP Rate: 150-200K/hr
Knockout and pickpocket Bandits or Menaphite Thugs in Pollnivneach. Very click-intensive but the fastest XP at these levels by far. Requires The Feud quest.

Levels 55-91: Ardy Knights (Most Popular)

XP Rate: 130-250K/hr
The meta Thieving method. Pickpocket Ardy Knights in Ardougne. Use the southeast bank spot where the knight gets trapped. With Rogues Outfit (double loot) and coin pouches, this is consistent XP and decent money.

Tips: Wear full Rogues Outfit (50 Thieving from Rogues Den), use dodgy necklaces to reduce stun chance, and turn on NPC indicators in RuneLite.

Levels 91-99: Elves (Best Money)

XP Rate: 200-250K/hr
Profit: 2-3M GP/hr
Pickpocket Elves in Prifddinas (requires Song of the Elves). Enhanced Crystal Keys, Crystal Shards, and various gems make this extremely profitable. The best Thieving money maker in the game.

Alternative: Master Farmers (38+, Profitable)

XP Rate: 80-130K/hr
Profit: 1-2M GP/hr (with Rogues Outfit)
Pickpocket Master Farmers for herb seeds. Ranarr, Snapdragon, and Torstol seeds are very valuable. Great for Ironmen who need farming seeds.

Rogues Outfit

The Rogues Outfit doubles all pickpocket loot when wearing the full set. Get it from the Rogues Den minigame at 50 Thieving and 50 Agility. This is ESSENTIAL before serious Thieving training.

Dodgy Necklaces

Dodgy Necklaces give a 25% chance to avoid being stunned when pickpocketing. They break after 10 charges but are cheap to buy. Always use them.

Recommended Path

1-25: Quests (Fight Arena, Tribal Totem) + Cake Stalls
25-45: Fruit Stalls (AFK) or Blackjacking (fast)
45-50: Blackjacking or Ardy Knights
50: Get Rogues Outfit from Rogues Den
50-91: Ardy Knights with Rogues Outfit + Dodgy Necklaces
91-99: Elves in Prifddinas for massive profit
