Fossil Island
Fossil Island is one of the most content-packed areas in OSRS. Unlocked through the Bone Voyage quest, it offers training methods for Hunter, Mining, Woodcutting, Farming, and more. Every account should unlock this area early.
How to Get There
- Complete Bone Voyage quest (easy, requires 100 Kudos at Varrock Museum)
- Take the barge from the Digsite
- Build the Mycelium Transportation System for fast travel around the island
Activities
Birdhouse Runs (Must-Do)
Set up 4 birdhouses across the island every 50 minutes. Massive passive Hunter XP + bird nests (profit). The single best passive training method in OSRS.
Ammonite Crabs (Combat Training)
100 HP crabs with no Defence. Better than Sand Crabs. Multiple 3-crab spots. AFK for 10 minutes at a time. Best combat training location in the game.
Volcanic Mine (Mining)
80-95K Mining XP/hr in teams. The fastest Mining method. Requires 50 Mining + 150 Kudos. Team-based minigame with unique mechanics.
Herbiboar (Hunter + Herbs)
80+ Hunter. Track and catch Herbiboar for 120-160K Hunter XP/hr plus herb drops. Great for Ironmen.
Sulliuscep Mushrooms (Woodcutting)
65+ Woodcutting. 80-100K WC XP/hr plus fossils and Numulite. Best balanced WC method for XP and profit.
Seaweed Patches (Farming)
Plant Giant Seaweed underwater. Essential for Crafting training (superglass make). Every Ironman needs this.
Museum Fossils
Find fossils from island activities and display them in the Varrock Museum for XP lamps. Completing exhibits gives XP in skills of your choice.
Priority Order
- Unlock Birdhouse Runs immediately
- Set up Ammonite Crab spot for combat training
- Start Giant Seaweed patches
- Use Sulliusceps for Woodcutting at 65+
- Try Volcanic Mine at 50+ Mining with a team
