The Nightmare & Phosanis Nightmare

The Nightmare of Ashihama is a unique boss encounter in Slepe that drops some of the most valuable items in OSRS, including the Inquisitors armor set (BIS crush gear), Nightmare Staff variants, and the extremely rare Parasitic Egg (Phosanis only). There are two versions: the group Nightmare and the solo Phosanis Nightmare.

Nightmare vs Phosanis

The Nightmare (Group): 5-80 players. Easier mechanics, longer kills. Lower unique rate per player. Good for learning.
Phosanis Nightmare (Solo): Solo only. Harder mechanics, faster kills. Much better drop rates. The meta for farming uniques.

Most serious farmers do Phosanis exclusively for the significantly better loot table.

Mechanics

Phase 1-3: Totems

The Nightmare fights in three phases, each ending when you charge four totems by killing parasites. During each phase:

Flower Power: Four flowers spawn. Stand on the one that matches Nightmares attack style or take big damage
Grasping Claws: Black hands reach from the ground. Dodge them or get pulled in and stunned
Husks: Melee and ranged husks spawn. Kill them quickly as they heal the boss
Spore Attack: Mushroom spores deal AoE damage. Walk away from them

Phosanis Extra Mechanics

Sleepwalkers: NPCs walk toward the boss. If they reach her, she heals. You must kill them or block them
Shadows: Shadow copies of you spawn. Avoid them or take heavy damage
All mechanics are faster and more punishing than regular Nightmare

Melee (Crush is Essential)

Weapon: Inquisitors Mace (BIS) or Bludgeon. Scythe works if owned
Armor: Inquisitors armor (BIS) or Bandos with Faceguard
Cape: Infernal or Fire Cape
Amulet: Amulet of Torture
Ring: Berserker/Ultor ring
Spec: Bandos Godsword or Claws

Inquisitors Hauberk: ~60M GP
Inquisitors Plateskirt: ~30M GP
Inquisitors Mace: ~30M GP
Nightmare Staff: ~5M (orbs add value: Harmonised ~50M, Eldritch ~40M, Volatile ~15M)
Parasitic Egg: Extremely rare (Phosanis only), spawns the Parasite pet

Tips

Crush accuracy matters more than max hit here. Inquisitors set gives huge bonuses
Learn the flower mechanic perfectly. Wrong flower = 50+ damage
For Phosanis, kill sleepwalkers immediately. They heal the boss for massive amounts
Bring Sanfew Serums to cure disease and restore prayer in one sip
Use quick prayers and switch between Protect from Melee/Magic based on attack style
