Raids 4 Is Coming
After four years without a new raid, OSRS is finally getting The Fractured Archive in late 2026. Announced at the Winter Summit 2026, this is the most hyped PvM content reveal in years. It promises to be the toughest raid yet, and the first details are already painting a picture of something incredible.
What We Know So Far
The Setting
The Fractured Archive takes players into a treasure trove of Guthix, the god of balance. An alliance of forces is trying to protect Guthixs most precious collection from those who would exploit it. The lore ties into the broader god wars storyline that has been building across OSRS quests.
Raid Structure
The Fractured Archive follows a Theatre of Blood-style layout: a linear, combat-focused bossing experience with minimal skilling or puzzle elements. This means the emphasis is on mechanical skill, DPS checks, and team coordination rather than scouting for good rooms.
Team Size
Up to 8 players can enter
Difficulty scales from 2-8 players
Solo is possible but significantly harder
This is the first raid to support up to 8 players (ToB caps at 5, ToA at 8 but balanced for smaller groups)
Confirmed Bosses
Two bosses have been revealed so far:
Guthixian Archive Guardian: A massive dormant tree-skull horror awakened to protect the archive. Features towering scale, vine tentacles, and glowing red eyes. This is likely a mid-raid boss similar to Verzik P1 in ToB.
Ezekiel: Saradomins justice-bringer, here to find artifacts worthy of Saradomin himself. Any attempt to stop him will be met with ferocious resistance. Expect a mechanically complex humanoid fight.
More bosses will be revealed throughout 2026 via sneak peek blogs.
Death and Wipe System
At launch: Team wipes fully reset the raid (hardcore mode)
After initial weeks: Changes to a ToA-style system with infinite retries but reduced rewards and fewer resources
Practice Mode: Confirmed. Lets you fight individual bosses to practice without committing to a full raid
Requirements
While Guthix Sleeps quest must be completed to access the Fractured Archive.
Rewards
Jagex is being deliberately coy about rewards, planning to reveal them in smaller, focused blog posts throughout 2026, discussing one or two rewards at a time. This drip-feed approach has the community speculating wildly about potential new BIS items.
What This Means for the Meta
Every new raid has historically reshaped the OSRS economy:
CoX brought Twisted Bow, Ancestral, and Prayer Scrolls
ToB brought Scythe, Sang Staff, and Avernic
ToA brought Fang, Masori, and Tumekens Shadow
The Fractured Archive will almost certainly introduce new BIS items in slots that have not been upgraded recently. Community speculation includes new armor, new weapons, and potentially new prayers or utility items.
How to Prepare
Complete While Guthix Sleeps if you have not already
Max your combat stats. 99 in all combat styles is the realistic minimum for day-1 raiding
Build a raid bank. Save supplies, potions, and GP for the first weeks
Learn existing raids. ToB mechanics will likely be the closest reference point
Gear up. Prioritize Scythe, Twisted Bow, and Tumekens Shadow if you do not have them
Save GP for new items. Day-1 unique prices are always astronomical
The Hype Is Real
The OSRS community has been begging for a new raid since ToA launched in August 2022. Four years of waiting means expectations are sky-high, and based on what we have seen so far, Jagex appears to be delivering. The Fractured Archive could define the next era of OSRS PvM.
