OSRS Gem Sack and Sailing Buffs Are Live (May 13 Patch)
The first wave of Sailing changes from this week's roadmap just went live, and the headline isn't actually Sailing. It's the new Gem Sack, which holds 60 of every uncut gem in your inventory. If you have ever rage-quit a Motherlode session because your Gem Bag couldn't fit Opals, this update is for you.
Here's everything that landed in today's patch.
🪙 Gem Bag Expansion: Four New Tiers
Jagex added a proper progression path for semi-precious gem storage. You can finally stack Opals, Jade and Red Topaz instead of dropping them like trash, and the top tier swallows everything up to Dragonstone.
Gem Pouch (Lv 12 Crafting): 5 of each semi-precious gem. Combine Bolt of Linen, Thread, Silk.
Gem Satchel (Lv 39): 10 each. Upgrade your Pouch with Bolt of Canvas, Thread, Silk.
Gem Tote (Lv 81): 20 each. Upgrade your Satchel with Bolt of Cotton, Thread, Silk.
Gem Sack (Lv 81): 60 of every uncut gem up to Dragonstone. Needs Gem Tote, Gem Bag and Immaculate Moleskin.
The catch: Immaculate Moleskin is a 1/50 drop from the Giant Mole. So you're looking at around 50 kills on average for a single Sack craft. If you have terrible RNG, it's going to feel worse.
🐗 Giant Mole Now Has Private Instances
Knowing Falador's basement is about to get hammered, Jagex added paid instances:
Mains: 25,000 GP (12,500 with Hard Combat Achievements).
Ironmen: 12,500 GP (6,250 with Hard CAs).
Toggle the instance via the spade in northwest Falador Park. Excess Moleskins can also go to Wyson the Gardener for 5 Bird Nest rolls each. If you'd rather skip the grind, a booster can handle the Giant Mole farm for you.
⛵ Sailing: First Live Patch
The wider Sailing roadmap got previewed earlier this week. Here's what actually shipped today:
Wind Mote on Special Attack: Press spec at the Helm to release a Wind Mote. Zoomies, basically.
Side Panel Reorder: Drag your most-used facility buttons to the top. Cannons next to each other. Finally.
Solo spawns mapped: Vampyre Krakens, Armoured Krakens and Great White Sharks now have isolated spawns away from the main packs.
Clue scroll buff: Drops from sea creatures get a 5% boost if you have your Combat Achievements done.
Horn of Plenty fixes: Double-catch toggle now actually works, charges count up to 25 instead of rolling 1/25, and crab traps (Red, Blue, Rainbow) now count.
Support facilities stay boostable: Cargo Hold, Range, Keg, Anchor and similar stay usable after the boost wears off. Active facilities (Cannons, Salvaging Hook, Trawling Net, Chum Station) still need the level.
Sailing pet from Salvage: Sorting any salvage now has a small chance to drop Soup, the Sailing pet.
⚔️ Leagues VI Tweaks
Quick hits for League players still grinding tasks:
Heavy and Light Ballistas now benefit from the crossbow Ranged echo node (+15% trigger).
Fire Spell pact burn now applies in single-way combat areas.
Sage's axe finally works on Moons of Peril.
Any Wallasalki kill completes the "Defeat a Wallasalki" task now.
Banker's Briefcase includes the new Sailing deposit box teleports.
🛠️ Other Notable Fixes
Keris Partisan of the Sun's healing now works on every scarab during Kephri in ToA.
Accursed Sceptre special attack works properly on enemies inside CoX.
Cooked Hunter meat and Trawling fish look brighter (credit to the RuneLite Food Colouring plugin author).
